RITUAL AND CEREMONY: SEMINARS FOR DIRECTOR OF CEREMONIES
The Grand Lodge of Instruction is keen to ensure that high standards of ritual and ceremony are observed throughout the Irish Constitution. There is a concern that some examples of bad practice have been occurring in Lodges and it is important that these are addressed.
Against this background it has been decided to organise seminars for Directors of Ceremonies, to help them identify any departures from the correct procedures and take remedial action as appropriate.
While these seminars are intended primarily for Director of Ceremonies, especially those newly appointed or those who have not recently attended classes of instruction, any other Brethren with an interest in ritual and ceremony will also be most welcome to attend.
There will be two seminars held in various locations to suit Brethren from all parts of the Province, if the date or venue shown for your lodge representative (or representatives) does not suit, an alternative can be selected from the schedule.

CLASSES OF INSTRUCTION
The purpose of the classes of Instruction is to provide an opportunity for the younger Brethren to become versed in the ritual and symbolism of Freemasonry. Also to be able to practise the ritual in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The meetings are usually overseen by the Preceptor (another word for teacher) who is an experienced member of the Lodge. Anyone going into office for the first time should make the classes of instruction a priority; certainly give yourself time to learn before you take office. There is so much to learn and often not enough time to learn it. Learning ritual for the majority of us is role based repetition, there is no “easier” method than constantly reading and repeating, but in a fun environment learning is quicker and enjoyable, give yourself an alternative to learning at home and try the class.
